View from the Cemetery – August 2025

Seems like a long time since I looked over the fence to watch a match, actually 2023, long sleepers here. There would appear to have been a bit of a revolution at the RCA or are my eyes deceiving me. RED & WHITE Halves strips brings back some great memories.

The lads have made a decent start to the season with a three match winning streak bolstering the points and what a player they have got in Mr Knight, if I remember correctly he always  scored against us when he was at Newcastle Benfield. He is now returning the favour with goals aplenty. Hopefully the injury will not keep him out too long.

The more expensive team up the road have shocked a few pundit, not least of whom is a certain Mr Shearer, with their 3-0 demolition of West Ham on the opening day of life in the Premiership. A long way to go and a lot of twists and turns to be negotiated if the wish to stay in the top tier of English football.

I note that we will be in FA Vase action against Padiham FC next week where we will need to be at our very best to come away with a result but with this young, fit and enthusiastic team anything is possible.

The manager has introduced a style of football which is very easy to watch and entertaining for the supporters of the club. their seems to be a lot of younger supporters at matches these days or am I just getting older and everyone looks younger.
