Former club secretary Rob Jones was Saturday’s guest of honour at Meadow Park for our local derby against Seaham Red Star as he was awarded a Lifetime Presidency on the pitch prior to kick-off.
RCA Chairman, Stephen Carter was joined by Vice-Chair and current secretary Paul Bell to present the award to Rob who has provided Sunderland RCA with over 20 years of service across several spells.
It was a pleasure for everyone involved with the club to have Rob back in Ryhope to mark this occasion and celebrate the years of hard work and commitment he gave to teh cause.
Speaking in his post-match interview following a 3-2 victory on Saturday, manager Mark Forrest gave a special thanks to Rob for all of his dedication during the ups and downs of the last few years.
Forrest said: “I can put my hand up and say without Rob this football club wouldn’t be here today. We all as a club, the Chairman, the board, the players, the youngsters, all of us are really appreciative for all of his efforts. This one is for him.”
