RCA fell to a heavy defeat away at Esh Winning despite an early Dennis Knight goal at West Terrace.
Knight’s third goal in two games was an excellent left-footed strike into the top corner on 13 minutes, but was cancelled out when an Esh volley bounced off the post and in via the back of goalkeeper Neal Atkinson.
The coaching staff gave the returning Atkinson a start in goal while Joe Kitching made his first start since arriving from Northallerton Town.
Other changes saw Simmi Tchounga, George Wilkinson, and Taylor Richardson return to the XI.
There was an opportunity to re-take the lead just before half-time when Tafari Nicholas was upended in the area. Knight stepped up but saw his penalty saved by Taylor Bell.
The game quickly started to move away from he visitors after the break. Noah Ellis broke in-behind on 62 minutes and squared for Jackson Cherrie to tap into the empty net.
The Stags had their tails up and two minutes later extended the lead as Kyle Atkinson danced his way through, saw his initial shot saved, but followed in to force over the line.
With five minutes to go, Esh Winning secured the result as Aaron Zamor chased a ball over the top before holding off his man and finding the net with help from the underside of the bar.
Zamor added insult to injury in stoppage time as he bundled in on the line following a corner.
An afternoon to forget for RCA, who are back in action on Bank Holiday Monday as we make the short trip to Ford Hub to face Sunderland West End for a 2:30pm kick-off.
