Sunderland RCA returned to winning ways with a dominant win over Prudhoe thanks to a four-minute Owen Imeson hat-trick.

Imeson opened the scoring on half an hour with a flicked header at the far post before finding the net again from close range after a goalkeeping error.

A minute later Imo completed his hat-trick with an emphatic strike into the far top corner.

The prolific forward turned provider just before half time as he assisted John Anderson for RCA’s fourth of the afternoon.

Lewis Dodds made two changes from last week’s defeat to Park View. South Shields youngster Evan Blaney made his debut at left-back, while Hartlepool United’s James Spark started in midfield.

Kyle Fryatt had the first chance on eight minutes as he fired goalwards following an Anderson cross. Thomas White made a strong save before Spark saw an effort blocked by Connor Lane.

Prudhoe threatened on the 15 minute mark as Michael Harland got the better of Andre Bennett on the left. He drove into the area but could only find the side netting.

Two minutes later Tobi Ruffai seemed to control with his hand but play continued and he shot just wide.

The end to end nature of the game continued when Archie Dodds fired just over from an Imeson cutback.

Another guilt edge chance went begging 25 minutes in as Imeson was set in from Anderson. RCA’s top scorer settled himself and fired goalwards but was denied by the underside of the bar.

There was no denying Imeson five minutes later as Fryatt’s cross from a recycled corner found the forward unmarked as he headed in via the post.

The visitors almost equalised immediately as Harland rounded Zach Wilkinson only to be denied by an excellent Chris Trewick block.

That block proved to be crucial as Imeson netted two in as many minutes to get his first RCA hat-trick. He capitalised on goalkeeper White losing the ball to Anderson on 33 minutes and less than a minute later he rifled in his third to put RCA in firm control.

Imeson then turned provider two minutes before the break as he slipped in Anderson. The full-back finished coolly through the legs of White to send the hosts into half-time four goals up.

Anderson oh so nearly had a second just after the restart when Imeson squared after rounding the keeper, but Brad Rogers made an incredible block on the line to deny him.

Ethan Docherty had battled well up top without much personal reward all game. He did excellently to hold off the defender on the right and turn before picking out James McGeorge. The ball bobbled just in front of the winger so his effort flew over.

Both Poolies went close in the final stages as Spark and Jake Worth both saw shots well saved.

RCA saw out the remainder of the game comfortably to secure their biggest win of the season so far. We end a four game home run next weekend as we welcome Billingham Synthonia to Meadow Park.
